General

EUVATAPI is a simple JSON based REST API that provides instant VAT number validation, currency conversions and access to EU VAT rates and data.

EUVATAPI is 100% secured by 256-bit SSL connections and response data is returned in lightweight JSON format.

The data EUVATAPI provides can help your business become VAT compliant when within the EU.
We provide the most accurate and up to date information as possible, to do this we use several official sources to collate our data.

Our data sources include the European Central Bank and the VIES European Commission.
Our data is checked constantly to ensure it is accurate and correct.

All VAT number validations are done in real-time. If a company is VAT registered in the EU and the data is available to the European Commission then it will be available to our API.

All price calculations are made using our latest VAT rate data.

IP geolocation is made using the latest available IP database which is refreshed weekly.
Yes. Every request to EUVATAPI is secured by the same encryption method used by banks and online retailers, Secure Socket Layer protocol. This is an industry-standard, and provides a 256-bit HTTPS connection to protect any sensitive data from being intercepted.

All our data is secured in German servers within the EU. We never disclose any data provided to us through our API unless forced to by law. We fully comply with the EU GDPR regulations.
EUVATAPI is one of many products provided by our company MDE Multiple Digital Est.

Data & information

Yes, our API provides VAT data for all 28 EU member states.
A country's standard VAT rate is applied to the majority of goods and services (e.g. a VAT of 20% in the UK). However many countries offer a reduced VAT rate for some categories (e.g: In the United Kingdom, there is no VAT for children's clothing).

API access & features

You need to create an account to access the API. You can find our prices and sign up for free here.
Once you have created an account you will be assigned a unique API key and start using the service.
A request is a call made to our API using your API key. Each of our plans gives you a certain number of requests each calendar month.
An email notification is automatically sent when an account gets close to exhausting its request limit. These automatically occur at 80% and 100% but can be disabled.

Once the limit has been reached, no more requests can be made until the quota is reset in the next calendar month.

You will not be charged for exceeding your quota and it can be increased at any point by upgrading to a higher plan.
Our system is designed to be "highly available" and will scale to process any number of requests.
We aim for 99.99% uptime or higher and you can check the current uptime on our service status page.
